I can't speak for them but from observation I would say MJ and the Beatles loved the style of music they were doing and thus were connected to it.

And that base are the songs. Your songs weren't a strong enough base to work with initially. I worked A&R and Publicity and the only thing outside of solicited matrrial that gets you in the door are the songs. Even a strong fan base won't do it if there aren't songs worth pushing.

Zero considering i don't have anything out there that i wrote 30 years ago because I was too busy living other bands' dreams filling in on guitar or bass. Hey at least it got me opening for major bands. Anyhow,
when i say your songs aren't strong enough, I mean in the early stages of the band there was no major interest to back the songs. Does that mean you suck??? You'll have to ask others on that one but it's not what I'm saying to you. It's business. But who knows maybe 30 yeas later you'll reach a wider audience.

That's very kind of you. I just walk past them, I don't believe in validating their lifestyle by making it easier for them (nor would I consciously do anything to make it harder). They can sink or swim on their own. Like so many things, it's not my problem and you can't make it my problem, nor can you make me feel guilty about it.
